Title: Residency Program Director, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Creighton University Arizona Health Education Alliance at Dignity Health Medical Group Saint Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center and District Medical Group Valleywise Health

Reports to: The GME Program Director (PD) is directly accountable to the Department Chair/Vice-Chair in Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Creighton University School of Medicine - Phoenix Campus and indirectly accountable to the Designated Institutional Official (DIO)

The Arizona Health Education Alliance through Dignity Health Medical Group (DHMG-AZ) in Arizona is actively seeking an experienced leader and visionary to serve as Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program Director in a well-established and prominent integrated program, formerly known as the Phoenix Integrated Residency in Ob/Gyn (PIROG). In 2017, Creighton University, Dignity Health St. Joseph s Hospital and Medical Center, Valleywise Health, District Medical Group, and Dignity Health Medical Group entered into a strategic partnership to strengthen and expand the Graduate Medical Education programs offered by each institution. The move brought together the administration of the residency and fellowship programs previously managed by each member under the Arizona Health Education Alliance, with Creighton University serving as the sponsoring entity.

Ideal candidates will have strong experience in educational, clinical, and administrative services, will be board certified in obstetrics and gynecology, will be eligible for an unrestricted Arizona medical license, and will have at least 5 years of educational experience. The Program Director will be provided with the salary support required to devote 50 percent FTE of non-clinical time to the administration of the program.

Our four-year, 36-resident program is fully accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). The obstetric services at both hospitals combine for over 7,000 deliveries per year (35% high risk) and both are Regional Perinatal Care Centers that receive maternal-transport patients. Both institutions have robust gynecological services providing care in all subspecialties including minimally invasive surgery.

Additionally, leadership strives to establish a culture of safety that minimizes hazards and patient harm by focusing on processes of care. Emphasizing patient safety in maternal health is an organizational priority. This priority is addressed via education for medical and hospital staff regarding the commitment to reduction of medical errors, integration of best practices into the care model, and integration of patient safety priorities into the new design and redesign of all relevant organization processes, functions, and services in the units serving obstetrical and gynecological patients.

Minimum Requirements:

  • MD or DO Degree and Board Certification in ABOG of AOBOG
  • 5+ years of proven clinical & administrative educational experience
  • Clinical responsibilities within the previous 3 years
  • Proven track record in clinical and/or basic science research with documented publications
  • Must have or be eligible for Arizona State medical licensure
  • Ability to achieve full and unrestricted hospital privileges at Dignity Health Arizona hospitals and Valleywise Health
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to travel to as needed between clinical sites
