Assistant Medical Director, MSH & Queens, Full Time
The Emergency Medicine Department seeks two (2) Full-Time Assistant Medical Directors to join The Mount Sinai Hospital and Mount Sinai Queens Department of Emergency Medicine.
The Assistant Medical Director will report to the site Medical Director and develop short- and long-term plans for on-going improvement of the clinical, operational, and administrative quality of the department. This role will include a clinical time commitment.
As the Assistant Medical Director, you will develop and implement streamlined processes to ensure safe and efficient medical care. This includes maintaining EPIC documents and educating clinical staff.
The Assistant Medical Director will manage collaborative efforts with Population Health and Utilization Review Committee. Within Population Health, you will provide ongoing education for outpatient care, patient selection, and the referral process. You will manage the utilization review process, collaborate with utilization management to maximize functionality of caseworkers in the ED and assist with implementing procedures and protocols for decreasing inpatient denials.
As the liaison between the department and the office of patient relations, you will oversee the monitoring, review, and reporting of departmental Sepsis metrics.
- Medical Degree from an Accredited University
- Current New York Medical License
- Board Eligible or Board Certified in Emergency Medicine
- Clinical and Administrative experience preferred
- Committed to Mount Sinai and the communities we serve
- Excellent communication, bedside manner, and organizational skills
- A strong work ethic and desire to participate in a team-oriented, performance-driven Health System
- Site assignment will be mutually agreed upon
The Department of Emergency Medicine is committed to excellence in emergency clinical care, education and research. The Mount Sinai Emergency Medicine Department is one of the largest in the country, affiliated with Elmhurst Hospital Center, a trauma center, affiliated with Mount Sinai Urgent Care Network and is part of NYC’s public health system. The Emergency Medicine Service Line has over 200 faculty and treats over 500K patients annually.
The Department of Emergency Medicine has two EM residencies along with Fellowships in Pediatric EM, Global Health, Ultrasound, Informatics, Sports Medicine, Administration, Simulation, and Research. Each year, our EM training programs educates approximately 150 residents and over 15 fellows.
As of 2020, the Icahn School of Medicine Department of Emergency Medicine is ranked among the top five (5) academic emergency departments among medical schools in the United States in National Institutes of Health funding.
