Academic Ob/Gyn Specialist
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) seeks a Board Certified/Eligible ObGyn Specialist to join our robust faculty at the level of Instructor, Assistant, Associate or Full Professor. The ideal candidate will possess a strong sense of teamwork and a will help to build and expand our practice caring for diverse patients. They will demonstrate a commitment to teaching, excellent communication skills, and a strong interest in academics.
Members of the ObGyn Specialists Division maintain busy faculty practices where they care for a diverse population of women, treat a broad range of cases varying in complexity, and host medical students one half day a week. The selected candidate will oversee the inpatient GYN teaching service and resident continuity clinics for several weeks of the year, as well as cover Labor and Delivery, including day and night shifts.

About the Obstetrics & Gynecology Specialists Division
The Division currently offers care at six (6) outpatient locations, with 28 providers, including 19 obstetrician-gynecologists, one (1) gynecologist, two (2) urogynecologists, five (5) nurse midwives, and one (1) women’s health NP. All inpatient care is delivered on our main campus in downtown Charleston, with obstetrical care housed in our new state-of-the-art facility, the Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital and the Pearl Tourville Women’s Pavilion. Faculty expertise includes minimally invasive surgery, reproductive infectious disease, family planning, vulvar disease, pediatric and adolescent gynecology, and colposcopy. We are very proud of our recent U.S News and World Report Ranking - # 17 in the nation in Gynecology!
MUSC Children’s Hospital is consistently ranked among U.S. News & World Report’s list of “America’s Best Children’s Hospitals,” and is the only quaternary academic medical center in the state of South Carolina. The new MUSC Children’s Pediatric Subspecialty R. Keith Summey Medical Pavilion offers comprehensive outpatient pediatric-only services, including specialty clinics, outpatient surgery, diagnostic imaging, infusion procedures, and support services such as lab and pharmacy. The new Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital and Pearl Tourville Women’s Pavilion that opened in February of 2020 offers a neonatal intensive care unit with over 80 licensed beds, the most comprehensive pediatric heart center in the state, an interventional program for non-cardiac surgical procedures, and an entire floor dedicated to the care of children with cancer. These state-of-the-art facilities are transforming how care is delivered to women and children, seamlessly integrating children’s care with obstetrical services.
