Pulmonary Critical Care Physician
Lung Associates of Sarasota wishes to invite qualified physicians to join our practice on the beautiful southwest coast of Florida. We have positions available for a qualified general pulmonary critical care physician and an interventional pulmonologist. Our independent, private practice group currently has 12 physicians and 9 advanced practice providers and wishes to expand to meet the growing demands in the region. Our physicians provide a mix of pulmonary and critical care, with approximately 60% of our time devoted to hospital care and 40% to outpatient pulmonary practice.
Adjacent to the hospital, our office practice draws regional referrals for the full spectrum of pulmonary disorders. The office overlooks downtown Sarasota and Sarasota Bay, uses a fully electronic record accessible off site, and houses a full PFT lab and digital imaging. Our board-certified sleep physicians supervise an accredited sleep lab intrinsic to the practice.
A dedicated, well-equipped interventional bronchoscopy suite with state-of-the-art equipment is run by experienced therapists at Sarasota Memorial Hospital, adjacent to the office. Anesthesia services are readily available for procedural support. Current interventional procedures include endobronchial ultrasound, robotic navigational bronchoscopy, endobronchial debulking, balloon dilation, electrocautery, cryotherapy, Argon laser coagulation, airway stenting, endobronchial valve placement, bronchial thermoplasty, rigid bronchoscopy and Pleurx catheter placement. Sarasota Memorial Hospital has an active multi-disciplinary tumor board, and the current lung cancer screening program has been recognized as a Screening Center of Excellence by the Lung Cancer Alliance. The opening of the Brian D. Jellison Cancer Institute in November 2021 is anticipated to increase the need for thoracic oncology procedures.
Hospital and ICU
We provide pulmonary and critical care services at Sarasota Memorial Hospital, a regional referral medical center recognized by Magnet and listed as a U.S. News “Best Hospital.” We provide intensivist coverage for a 62 bed ICU with medical, surgical, cardiac surgical and neurologic critical care units, and run a busy pulmonary consult service.
Night and weekend coverage is shared equally among the group. Advanced practice provider support is present in the office and hospital, including nighttime. The hospital system anticipates opening a satellite hospital in 2021, providing opportunity for expansion of the group.
Teaching and Research
The group supports the Florida State University Internal Medicine residency program and hosts medical students from the local FSU campus. We are actively involved in clinical research supported through the hospital’s clinical research center.
Competitive compensation package
A two-year employed position with welcome bonus, competitive salary and low buy-in leads to full partnership. Complete benefits package includes paid vacation, CME support, health and liability coverage. A team approach to care helps maintain a balanced lifestyle.
Pulmonary/Critical Care BE/BC required. We cannot currently support J1 or H1b visas.
