Faculty Position Mongan Institute Ctr for Aging and Serious Illness Division of Palliative Care and Geriatric Medicine Department of Medicine

Massachusetts General Hospital

The Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) Center for Aging and Serious Illness at the Mongan Institute invites applications for a faculty position in Aging or Serious Illness Research at the Instructor, Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level. The faculty appointment will be in the Departments of Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. The position provides outstanding opportunities for collaboration with translational investigators across the MGH, Mass General Brigham, and Harvard scientific communities.

Applicants must hold a PhD and/or MD degree (or the equivalent) and have growing expertise in gerontology/geriatrics or palliative care research.  The successful candidate will develop a program of research in any of a number of potential areas of research in gerontology or geriatric/palliative medicine including, but not limited to chronic illness and aging (including HIV, dementia, advanced cardiac, liver, and renal disease), supportive and palliative care in cancer, biopsychosocial interventions to address illness burden, health disparities, and evaluation of health policy and delivery system initiatives related to geriatrics or palliative care. Research addressing population health, implementation science, and the needs of vulnerable and disadvantaged groups is highly desirable. The candidate would be expected to collaborate with investigators in the Center for Aging and Serious Illness and wider research community at the MGH. The applicant will also be expected to contribute to the teaching of medical students, residents and research fellows in the MGH and Harvard Medical School systems.

Qualified candidates must have an M.D. or Ph.D. degree and a strong research track record with a focus on aging or serious illness. PhD scientists with a background in nursing, social work, or rehabilitation sciences are encouraged to apply. For physician candidates, board certification or eligibility in geriatrics and/or palliative care is preferred.

Interested candidates should send a personal statement, including research interest, and Curriculum Vitae to James Breed, Administrative Director of the Division of Palliative Care and Geriatric Medicine at JBREED@PARTNERS.ORG.

We are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, gender identity, sexual orientation, pregnancy and pregnancy-related conditions or any other characteristic protected by law.
