About the Hospital
Located in the capital city, Mississippi Baptist Medical Center (MBMC), was Jackson’s first hospital, which opened as a clinic by two doctors in 1908. Today, more than 100 years later on the same site in downtown Jackson, our modern facilities include the Baptist Cancer Center and a six-level tower housing the Cardiovascular Center and Baptist for Women. In 2017, MBMC became a part of the Baptist Memorial Health Care system, creating one of the largest not-for-profit health care systems in the country.
With an emphasis on high quality care and compassion for patients and their loved ones, MBMC has earned numerous awards and certifications. We are Mississippi’s #1 Hospital according to U.S. News and World Reports, we are Mississippi’s only Magnet Certified Hospital, and we are one of the top 100 hospitals in the nation according to Becker’s Hospital Review. Additionally, we are CT/MRI accredited by the ACR, we are a Center for Blue Distinction, A rated Leap Frog hospital, and hold several Health Grades awards. MBMC admits approximately 21,000 hospital patients and performs more than 220,000 outpatient procedures each year.
