Job Duties: Prevent, diagnose and treat diseases of the heart and blood vessels. Examine patients for symptoms indicative of heart disease. Perform and use information from a range of tests like electrocardiograms, stress tests, echocardiography, vascular ultrasound, and cardiac catheterization, as aids for diagnosing cardiac and vascular conditions. Perform invasive diagnostic procedures such as Swan-Ganz catheter insertion, intravascular ultrasound, and fractional flow reserve determination, for diagnosing heart failure and severe coronary artery disease. Prescribe medications and recommend diet, activity and rehabilitation programs as indicated. Use treatments such as balloon pump insertion, coronary angioplasty and stenting to treat coronary disease, and pacemaker installation to treat heart blocks.
Minimum Requirements: Medical degree or foreign equivalent, completion of residency training program in Internal Medicine, completion of fellowship training programs in Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology, Board eligible or Board certified in Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology, and Georgia medical license.
