Bayhealth is looking for an experienced Trauma Surgeon to join a new Trauma Program. You will join a hospital-based group of general and specialty surgeons. In addition to helping Bayhealth Kent Campus transition from a Level III to a Level II Trauma Center the position would entail general surgery, trauma call and the opportunity to develop any other special interests you may have. This is an opportunity to join a growing Trauma Service with a busy and financially sound institution. July 2021 will see the start of our new IM and FM residency programs and a General Surgery residency has been accredited to start in the summer of 2022 so there will be plenty of opportunities to work within the GME program.
Our goal would be to have Trauma Service with 3-4 physicians and 3-4 APCs. Our ED at Kent currently sees 56,000+ visits per year. We have Neurosurgery, CT Surgery, Interventional Cardiology, Interventional Neurology and Interventional Radiology on staff and are looking for the right team members to assist in taking us to the next level. Our tertiary care center is 45 miles north. Candidates must be BE/BC in General Surgery and have completed a Fellowship in Trauma/Critical Care Surgery.
Bayhealth Medical Center has a fully integrated EMR (Epic) with our medical group and many community practices in order to enhance the continuity of care and improve the patient experience. Bayhealth physicians are employed and are offered a base salary, RVU incentives, malpractice, paid time off, paid holidays, CME stipend and paid CME time as well as generous health, dental, vision, disability and life insurance.
Bayhealth Medical Center is central and southern Delaware's largest healthcare system with two hospitals, one free-standing ED and a medical staff of nearly 500 physicians.

Located less than two hours from Washington DC, Baltimore and Philadelphia the central/southern Delaware offers affordable living, history and charm. Easy access to both the Delaware and Chesapeake Bays provides limitless recreational opportunities and the Atlantic Ocean is less than a forty-five minute drive from Dover.
