ASSISTANT PROFESSOR, TERM TENURE-TRACK
HEAD AND NECK SURGERY
The Department of Head and Neck Surgery within the Division of Surgery is actively recruiting an assistant professor term tenure or term tenure-track appointment for a physician-scientist who will be appointed by the Chair of the Department of Head and Neck Surgery, based on a national search, to lead the department’s scientific mission and strategic initiatives in the field of tumor microenvironment, tumor neurobiology and pain. The qualified candidate will maintain the highest levels of research, quality and value and maximize both intra- and extramural funding opportunities. The candidate will also lead a tumor microenvironment and neurobiology research program with the primary objective to foster open communication and collaboration among the researchers, clinical faculty and administrative leadership across Department of Head and Neck Surgery, translational molecular pathology, genomic medicine, the division of cancer medicine and pain medicine.
Qualified candidates will have an M.D. and have completed an otolaryngology-head and neck surgery, oral maxillofacial surgery or general surgery residency and received advanced training in head and neck surgical oncology. Candidates must be licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Texas. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in the fields of cancer biology, with a track record of publications in the field of tumor biology and tumor microenvironment. Background in neuroscience is desired. Research leadership/administrative experience and independent funding is preferred. The salary range is $342,000-$424,000 and will be based on the applicant’s qualifications and experience.
