Occupational and Environmental Medicine Clinic Medical Director
The University of Washington (UW) Department of Medicine, Division of General Internal Medicine is seeking applicants for a full-time (1.0 FTE) faculty position based out of the Occupational and Environmental Medicine (OEM) Program at Harborview Medical Center (HMC). The selected applicant will become core faculty member in the OEM Program, a joint activity of the Department of Medicine in the School of Medicine and the Department of Environmental & Occupational Health Sciences in the School of Public Health. This position will be at the Clinical Instructor, Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, or Clinical Professor rank), commensurate with experience. This position would have an annual service period of 12 months [July 1-June 30]. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service. The anticipated start date would be July 1, 2022. A dual appointment in the School of Public Health’s Department of Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences or other relevant departments is also possible.
The position would provide clinical care and trainee supervision in the OEM Clinic at HMC, with optional inpatient attending of two to four weeks per year at HMC. This position may also include teaching and programmatic activities within the OEM Program and clinical care and teaching on other medical services depending on availability and experience of the candidate. This position will include a leadership role as the OEM Clinic Medical Director and opportunities to be a regional leader in occupational health education and uptake of best practices in the region’s provider community.
Requirements include an M.D. or D.O. degree (or foreign equivalent), training in a relevant clinical specialty, and formal training in occupational medicine such as board eligibility/certification in preventive medicine (occupational medicine) (or foreign equivalent). Eligibility for a Washington State medical license is required. In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services. Eligible candidates must have a demonstrated record of at least two years as a superior clinician and teacher in an academic setting (including during time as a fellow).
