Calcium and Bone Specialist/Endocrinologist
The Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH) is seeking a Calcium and Bone specialist/endocrinologist to join our team as we expand our Skeletal Health and Osteoporosis Center. Applicants should have an MD and be BC/BE in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology and have a current legal authorization to work in United States. Visa sponsorship is not available. The successful applicant will become a member of the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Hypertension in the Department of Medicine. Appointment at Harvard Medical School, at the of level of Instructor or Assistant Professor will be commensurate with experience, training, academic accomplishments, and institutional policies.
Job responsibilities for this full-time position include evaluation of patients with osteoporosis, fragility fractures, metabolic bone diseases, hyper/hypoparathyroidism and other calcium disorders and inclusion in a multi-disciplinary team that consists of other endocrinologists, primary care, orthopaedic surgery, and other sub-specialists. The focus of the Skeletal Health and Osteoporosis Center is to improve health through diagnosis and treatment of low bone mass, osteoporosis, and other metabolic bone diseases that affect skeletal health and, importantly, prevention of fractures. Excellent interpersonal skills for both patient care and colleague interactions in our multi-disciplinary structure are critical, as well as commitment to the highest quality of medical care and evidence-based approaches to osteoporosis and metabolic bone diseases treatment. The role will also include participation in efforts to improve clinical operations and quality of care, education of hospital trainees/colleagues and Harvard Medical School students, possible research participation, and input into strategic planning for development of innovative programs and growth in the Calcium and Bone Section and Fracture Liaison Service. The optimal candidate will have a strong vision for successful models of skeletal health care, clinical research, and direct prior experience in disorders of bone and calcium. Previous research experience in this field is also desirable.
