Position Description

The University of Chicago's Department of Neurology seeks a full-time vascular neurology clinical faculty member to join a growing vascular neurology program and hold the role of Vascular Neurology Section Chief.  The University of Chicago is a designated comprehensive stroke center and has a high-volume emergency department caring for the south side community in Chicago and beyond.  Recent growth in this program includes the addition of a neurointerventional program within the department as well as a growing telestroke program. The appointee will have both inpatient and outpatient responsibilities for patients requiring vascular neurological care. The location of services will be primarily oriented to the University of Chicago Medical Center's Hyde Park campus. 

We especially welcome candidates with an interest in section leadership and research, with a history of or currently holding extramural funding.   

The Section Chief role of this position will focus on leading the clinical and research missions of the section. Responsibilities include developing strategic priorities in coordination with the Chair, oversight of the stroke inpatient and outpatient practice as well as growing the telestroke practice, administration of the comprehensive stroke center, mentoring junior faculty in the section, and expanding fellowship and educational programs in Vascular Neurology. In addition, the appointee will lead a multi-disciplinary research program with national recognition.  Academic rank and compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) are dependent upon qualifications.

Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must 1) have a medical doctorate or equivalent, 2) hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois, 3) be Board certified or eligible in Neurology, 4) have completed a Vascular Neurology fellowship, and (5) be board-certified or eligible in Vascular Neurology.
