Job Description and qualifications (WSU Posting)

The Vice Dean will be leading the staff of his office and collaborate with a wide cross-sectional representation from the SOM and the University at large to:

• Develop policies to create and strengthen impactful initiatives designed to enhance the diversity, equity and inclusion of the entire medical school community.

• Work with the Associate Provost for DEI at WSU to collaborate on DEI strategy development, implementation and integration with schools and colleges across the university.

• Enhance the relationship and coordination with the Admissions office and undergraduate and postgraduate Medical Education programs for both the recruitment, retention, and well-being of students.

• The Vice Dean will work with basic science and clinical department in the SOM through the Vice Chairs for DEI to ensure sharing the discussions and engagement for DEI issues at the individual department level, as well as across the SOM and the university.

• Build bridges and effective relationships with community members and organizations and garnish participation in and support for the DEI mission,

• Work on enhancing the success and growth of the wide range of WSU pipeline programs, that includes elementary, middle and high school programs to the historic and ground-breaking Post-Baccalaureate Program.

• The Vice Dean for DEI will be responsible to the Dean of the Medical School.

The successful candidates will have either an MD degree and/or a doctoral degree with significant leadership experience in and with a passion for the mission of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
