UTMB Health's anchor facility in League City--the Specialty Care Center at Victory Lakes--opened to patients in May 2010, representing a major expansion of services for patients in Galveston County and southern Harris County. The original 110,000 square-foot, two-story building included advanced imaging, outpatient surgery, breast health, orthopedics and rehabilitation, pelvic health, vascular services and after-hours urgent care--along with the latest beneficial technologies in a beautiful and convenient location.
In 2013, UTMB began a $90 million building expansion project at the site that will include an emergency department and beds to accommodate patients requiring overnight stays. The project is creating 142,000 square feet of clinical space. In a related project, UTMB built a central plant to provide utilities to its 62-acre campus in Victory Lakes. With the expansion, the complex will open with a hospital featuring 11 Labor Delivery Recovery Mother/Baby rooms and 10 medical/surgery rooms with plans to grow to 37 rooms. The LDRP rooms will have oversized windows, Wi-Fi, sofa beds and will offer couplet care for mothers and infants. The Emergency Department will include 24-hour care and a child-friendly waiting room; eight treatment rooms, a full diagnostics lab and CT/MRI capabilities.
In early 2015, UTMB changed the name of the Victor Lakes site to the "UTMB Health League City Campus," a renaming which reflects the expansion at the location and the rapid growth of League City.COMMUNITY INFORMATION
