Hospitalist Medical Director Needed in Portland, Oregon

Adventist Health Portland seeks an experienced Board-Certified internal medicine physician to join the OHSU-Adventist Hospitalist Service. This is a community Hospitalist Medical Director position leading 23 attending Hospitalists who will practice in a .5 FTE administrative and .5 FTE clinical position.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced Hospitalist, trained in Internal Medicine and well-practiced in managing patients in the hospital environment. In addition to being a working partner, the Medical Director should demonstrate the ability to provide leadership to physician peers which includes positive communication, mentoring, training in clinical procedures, building a cohesive team spirit and directing with a service-minded emphasis. This position is designed for a leader-among-leaders as Adventist Health Hospitalist physicians are regarded as front-runners in patient care. The Medical Director will serve as the connecting point between the Hospitalist group and hospital administration, other physician groups and ancillary hospital services to facilitate cohesive relationships that inspire fulfillment of the mission, resulting in the best quality of patient care and physician work satisfaction.

The Hospitalists maintain an open ICU, serving as the attending on most medical ICU patients, while collaborating with the pulmonary/critical care attendings who round daily and are available for assistance 24/7. Clinical duties include standard internal medicine procedures, occasional night shifts, and working at least 7 twelve-hour shifts per month in a half-time clinical role. Our clinical scheduling offers flexibility for physician preference, outside of the traditional 7 on 7 off schedule.
