Maine Medical Partners (MMP), a division of Maine Medical Center (MMC), is seeking a Board certified or eligible (BC/BE) surgeon to join the 5 physician section of Minimally Invasive Surgery. 

Practice will focus primarily around the care of patients requiring treatment for reflux and/or hiatal hernia and also morbid obesity.  Call may include coverage of foregut, bariatric, and abdominal wall hernia surgery patients.  Candidate should have interest and expertise in the treatment of patients with reflux disease, hiatal hernia and morbid obesity. Skill set should include the ability to perform open, laparoscopic, and robotic procedures.  An academic background is preferred as is the desire to teach medical students and train surgical residents. Research opportunities are also available. Additionally, the candidate will have the opportunity to assist in the development and growth of a new reflux treatment, center at MMC, and lead program growth at a nearby network member, Southern Maine Health Care (Biddeford).

MMC has 637 licensed beds and is the state’s leading tertiary care hospital and an ACS verified Level I Trauma Center, with a full complement of residencies and fellowships and integration with Tufts University Medical School.  MMC admits 2000+ trauma patients, 600+ Critical Care patients, and 1600 emergency general surgery patients each year.  Pre-hospital trauma care is provided by fixed wing, helicopter and ground-based units. 

The successful candidate will be employed by MMP, a subsidiary of MMC and Maine’s largest multi-specialty group, serving patients throughout the state and in Northern New England.  This high quality team of 650 physicians and 350 advanced practice professionals is based at MMC and delivers care through a network of 54 locations across the State and acts as a regional referral network.
