Executive Vice President and Provost

Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU), one of the premier research-intensive health science universities in the nation, is seeking its next Executive Vice President and Provost. The Provost serves as the Chief Academic Officer of OHSU. In conjunction with the President and in cooperation with the faculty, the Provost is the primary leader of the education mission of the university and is responsible for providing leadership and succession planning, strategy, resource prioritization, quality, transparency, and accountability in alignment with the OHSU ‘s strategic plans.

The Provost reports directly to the President and, along with the other Executive Vice Presidents on the President’s leadership team, contributes to the overarching vision and strategic leadership for all of the university’s missions. As Oregon’s only public academic health center, with its mission to improve the health and well-being of citizens through a well-balanced program of teaching, healing, and exemplary research, OHSU has a statewide presence, and provides institutional leadership for the state.  Its unique public corporation structure affords the Provost broad reach and capacity for innovative leadership within and beyond the institution.

This is an opportunity for an extraordinary Provost to further develop the institution’s educational mission by overseeing accreditation, promoting competency-based pedagogy, fostering educational innovation and common curriculums, integrating the health science curriculum to facilitate preparation for team-based learning and interprofessional practice, enhancing educational pathways for women and underrepresented populations, and strategically evaluating new educational growth opportunities.

Qualified candidates will possess a PhD, MD, MD/PhD or an equivalent doctorate level degree or other appropriate terminal degree from an accredited higher education institution and experience that warrants an appointment as a full professor.

In its pursuit to become a multicultural, anti-racist organization, Oregon Health & Science University values a diverse and culturally competent workforce. We are proud of our commitment to being an equal opportunity, affirmative action organization that does not discriminate against applicants on the basis of any protected class status, including disability status and protected veteran status. Women and underrepresented people are explicitly invited to apply. Individuals with diverse backgrounds and those who promote diversity, and a culture of inclusion are encouraged to apply. To request reasonable accommodation, contact the Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity Department at 503-494-5148 or aaeo@ohsu.edu
