VA Northern California HCS is looking for a committed Non-Surgical/Medical Urologist to join our team in Redding, CA!

Duties/Responsibilities: The incumbent is accountable to the Chief of Urology under Surgical Service and is responsible for managing the effective delivery of state-of-the-art urological care at this outpatient clinic to include urology consult, referral review and triage, coordination of urology clinics using the principles of advanced clinical access, pre-operative assessment, operative intervention and post-operative care, and involvement in contracting with local facilities. Participates in all aspects of the general urology program, including the following: provide urological outpatient care (invasive and noninvasive) to all scheduled and walk-in patients, inform patients (and/guardians, caretakers and family members when appropriate) with alternative treatment and diagnostic modes and the risks and benefits of each. The incumbent will provide pre-operative evaluation of each patient scheduled for elective or emergency surgery. The incumbent is responsible for providing the patient with risks, benefits, and alternative treatments and obtaining informed consent from the patient or guardian before conducting invasive procedures. Responsible for encouraging family member or members/guardians to be involved with the patients' care, perform invasive procedures; cystoscopies (with intra-urethral topical anesthetic), vasectomies, circumcisions, infrared coagulation and/excision of genital lesions, urethral meatotomies, and dorsal slits (with local anesthetic), and assume total responsibility for all perioperative care for assigned patients. Opportunity to work at the Sacramento VA Medical Center 1-2 days per month to maintain surgical skills and apply for Volunteer Clinical Faculty (VCF) appointment to work with Residents training at facility from UC Davis School of Medicine.

Preferred Experience: Surgical Observation Bed, Urology, Ambulatory Surgery OR (O/P), Surgery Admin

Tour of duty: Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm, no on-call or weekends

Candidates must: 1) be a US citizen or PRA (Non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with [38 U.S.C. 7407(a)]; 2) possess a current, full, unrestricted medical license in any state, and 3) board prepared/certified in Urology

BENEFITS: 208 hours (5.2 weeks) paid vacation (full-time physicians earn 8 hours each pay period upon employment/part-time physicians earn 1 hour of vacation leave for every 10 hours worked); 104 hours (2.6 weeks) paid sick leave (full-time physicians earn 4 hours pay period upon employment, no cap) /part-time physicians earn 1 hour of sick leave for every 20 hours worked); 10 paid Federal holidays (any time clinics are closed you get time-off with pay and does not come out of paid vacation); Competitive Salary; Annual Physician Performance Pay; Malpractice protection with tail coverage covered by the Federal government; CME- 1 week paid authorized absence to attend and after 1 year of employment $1,000 per year stipend toward CME if BC (does not come out of paid vacation/time is pro-rated for part-time staff); No Physician Employment Contract; no significant restriction on moonlighting
