Senior Medical Director, Rehabilitation Services

Intermountain Healthcare invites applications and nominations for the position of Senior Medical Director, Rehabilitation Services.

Intermountain Healthcare is an internationally-recognized, integrated not-for-profit healthcare system based in Salt Lake City, Utah. The largest healthcare provider in the Intermountain West, the system provides healthcare services to citizens in Utah, Nevada, and Idaho through its network of 24 hospitals (includes "virtual" hospital), an integrated medical group with more than 2,900 caregivers at approximately 215 clinics, affiliate networks, homecare, telehealth, health insurance plans, and other services, along with wholly owned subsidiaries including SelectHealth, Intermountain Nevada, and Saltzer Health.

Intermountain Healthcare offers a full spectrum of rehabilitation services by a team of 25 physicians and 1,400 caregivers at facilities throughout the Intermountain Healthcare network.  The Intermountain team works to develop customized treatment plans designed to decrease pain and increase movement, strength, and function, with a goal to help their patients regain physical, mental, and communication function.

The Senior Medical Director of Rehabilitation Service is a system-wide role with accountability for the Rehabilitation Services portfolio for Intermountain Healthcare. The Senior Medical Director will focus on leading the performance and continuous improvement of Rehabilitation Services and will provide leadership, oversight, and support for the development of a culture of high reliability and the measurement of care, identifying opportunities, building relationships, and executing on strategies to drive the performance and measured improvement of Rehabilitation Services.

The Senior Medical Director of Rehabilitation Services will work collaboratively with all disciplines including specialty care, community care, clinical programs, clinical shared services, and clinically integrated networks. The Senior Medical Director will also form a dyad partnership with the Executive Director of Rehabilitation Services to define, establish, and oversee the administrative, financial, and clinical performance of Rehabilitation Services.  The Senior Medical Director will leverage the integrated healthcare delivery model and engage with physicians and other caregivers to further integrate Rehabilitation Services into seamless care delivery processes across the care continuum to achieve and sustain improvements in patient outcomes. The incumbent will understand and assess the external healthcare environment and develop short- and long-term plans to ensure that Intermountain Healthcare is well-positioned for current and future success.

The Senior Medical Director will be an outstanding leader and skilled physician, widely recognized in the field with a strong track record of program building and innovation. The new Senior Medical Director must be a respected leader who is operationally savvy, highly knowledgeable in leading a matrixed clinical enterprise, and visionary, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
