VA Medical Center (VAMC) Syracuse, New York is seeking a Pulmonary /Critical Care physician. The Syracuse VAMC is an active teaching hospital affiliated with and physically adjacent to the State University of New York (SUNY) Upstate Medical University (UMU). The position requires both inpatient and outpatient Pulmonary responsibilities.

Salary Range: $220,000- $348,000 per year. Physicians will be paid commensurate with experience using VA's Market-based physician pay system. Education and length of practice will be considered through a formal pay-setting process in determining the final compensable salary. VHA is an equal opportunity employer. Basic Requirements:

United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.

Education: Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. - For foreign medical graduates not covered in above, facility officials must verify with the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) that the applicant has met requirements for certification, and must obtain a copy of the ECFMG certificate, if claimed by the applicant.  Licensure: Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.

Residency: Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. Approved residencies, and fellowships if applicable, are those approved by the accrediting bodies for graduate medical education, the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA), in the list published for the year the residency, or fellowship if applicable, was completed. Other residencies (Non-US residency  training programs followed by a minimum of five years of verified practice in the United States),  which the local Medical Staff Executive Committee deems to have provided the applicant with appropriate professional training and believes has exposed the physician to an appropriate range of patient care experiences will also qualify.

Board Eligible/ Certified in Pulmonary/Critical Care (We will consider candidates who will be completing Pulmonary Critical Care fellowship training or becoming board eligible in June 2021).

English Language Proficiency

Preferred Experience: Sleep experience/certification is preferred, but not required.

Physical Requirements: Physical Requirements: Physical activity includes sitting, standing (up to 2 hours), walking (up to 2 hours), heavy lifting(45 pounds or over), reaching above the shoulder, and repeated bending. Incumbent should be emotionally and mentally stable and capable to perform the duties of the position.
