Full-time Staff Psychologist

The Department of Neurology and the Department of Psychiatry at the Massachusetts General Hospital are seeking to jointly fill a full-time staff psychologist position in the Functional Neurological Disorder Unit. The preferred candidate would have prior training and/or expertise in the use of a range of skills-based psychotherapy techniques (e.g., cognitive behavioral therapy) to manage patients across the motor spectrum of functional neurological disorder – including functional seizures, functional movement disorder and functional limb weakness. An interest in using psychotherapy to manage other non-motor functional neurological symptoms is also welcomed, including functional cognitive disorder. Additionally, candidates with expertise in the use of skills-based psychotherapy techniques for the treatment of mood, anxiety and/or trauma-related disorders are also encouraged to apply – provided they have an interest in specifically working with patients with functional neurological disorder. Candidates should be enthusiastic about working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Research opportunities are also possible – and will be discussed on an individual basis. This position will incorporate Harvard Medical School appointment commensurate with qualifications meeting HMS academic appointment criteria of: Instructor in Psychology in the Department of Psychiatry. Teaching responsibilities will be in accord with HMS faculty requirements. Candidates must have a Ph.D. or Psy.D. in psychology from an accredited school of psychology. Licensure appropriate to clinical discipline, and licensed in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Applications from women and representatives of minority groups are welcomed and encouraged.
