Chief of Pulmonary Medicine

As the nation s leader in pediatric leadership and faculty search, AMN Leadership Solutions has partnered with Connecticut Children s and the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Connecticut Health Center in search of a transformational leader to serve as Chief of the Division of Pulmonary Medicine. The successful candidate will hold a faculty appointment at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and lead a highly accomplished Division.

Reporting to the Physician-in-Chief at Connecticut Children s and the President of the Connecticut Children s Specialty Group, the new Division Chief will be expected to promote an atmosphere conducive to excellence in faculty development, clinical care, education and academic productivity.

Opened in 1996 and located in Hartford, CT, Connecticut Children s is an academic, free standing, non-profit, 187-bed academic medical center which offers comprehensive, world-class health care to children and adolescents in a patient-centered and family-centered environment with a focus on research, education and advocacy. With many clinical departments known for outstanding care, Connecticut Children s is consistently ranked among the Top 50 Best Children s Hospitals by the U.S. News & World Report. For 2020-2021, four specialties were ranked among the top in the nation: Neonatology (#42), Pediatric Diabetes & Endocrinology (#36), Pediatric Gastroenterology and GI Surgery (#48), and Pediatric Urology (#39).

Connecticut Children s is the only freestanding pediatric hospital in Connecticut with powerful and growing presence in communities across Connecticut, Western Massachusetts and neighboring areas in Eastern New York. Connecticut Children s is home to a pediatric residency program and 11 pediatric medical and surgical subspecialty fellowships for the UConn School of Medicine. It is the major clinical site for attending physicians, pediatric and pediatric surgical residents, fellows and medical students.

Candidate requirements:

  • MD (or equivalent) with a robust record of professional leadership roles in an academic institution and/or Medical/Clinical Director experience
  • Board certification in pediatric pulmonology
  • Proven ability to develop and build innovative programs
  • Strong track record and national reputation as a leader in pediatric pulmonary medicine
  • Demonstrated experience in mentoring and recruiting faculty
