The LSU Health Sciences Center New Orleans, LA, Department of Medicine, Section of Infectious Diseases seeks applicants for an academic faculty position to be appointed to the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor (non tenure, clinical track). Incumbent will build the ID service at our partner hospital, Touro Infirmary, while providing inpatient clinical service and participating in the regular call schedule. Some weekend coverage required. Teaching and supervision of ID fellows as assigned will be included. The section offers a diverse patient population for clinical and translational research projects within LSU and with partnering institutions. Our faculty have funded research in the areas of new HIV therapeutics, malignancies associated with HIV, molecular diagnostics and therapeutic interventions in sexually transmitted infections. Moreover, we have collaborative projects with the NIH-funded Alcohol Research Center focusing on the intersection between HIV, alcohol, and substance use. Minimum Qualifications
Required Education: MD or equivalent
Certifications/Licenses: Required ABIM board certified physician in Internal Medicine; Board certified/eligible (or equivalent) in Infectious Diseases; Licensed to practice medicine in Louisiana before date of hire.
