Physician - Clinical Director
The University of South Carolina’s Student Health Services (SHS) is seeking an experienced Clinical Director Primary Care to provide leadership within our accredited and award-winning patient-centered medical home (PCMH). We provide comprehensive care to more than 17,000 distinct patients each year and employ over 125 full-time employees.
This position is responsible for providing strategic leadership as well as patient care and will be responsible for supervision of medical providers (physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants). In addition, they will assume responsibility for supervision and oversight of daily medical services, programs, and activities to ensure easy access, quality care and affordable services for our students. As a licensed physician, provides team-based primary medical care within approved privileges, scope of practice and within the patient-centered medical home standards. This position will coordinate patient care, consultations, and referrals within the department, and with other University, state, and community providers.
Graduation from accredited medical school, completion of residency training, and 3 years’ experience. Licensed (unrestricted) to practice medicine in the State of South Carolina (or eligible to be licensed). Board Certified in specialty area and maintain certification throughout employment. Have or ability to obtain CPR and ACLS certification upon employment. DEA certificate required. Obtain and maintain credentialing, privileging, and Board Certification always during employment.
Experience as a physician leader (supervisor) with increasing responsibility and at least 3 years’ experience in adolescent health (17-25-year-old). Experience and documented success implementing quality initiatives and moving an organization to embrace quality team-based patient outcomes. Evidence of potential for building and leading a substantial department.
