Shared Nephrology and Transplant Nephrology
The Division of Nephrology and the Division of Transplant Nephrology, Lahey Hospital & Medical Center is seeking a nephrologist who has completed a transplant nephrologist to join our combined divisions comprising 8 staff physicians and 2 advanced practitioners.
Our division members care for a diverse spectrum of patients with kidney disease and hypertension, including a large ESRD population. In addition to shared outpatient dialysis rounding, our dialysis patients are seen monthly in the office. The Lahey hospital and medical center transplant division is one of the largest in the greater Boston area performing approximately 100 liver transplants and 40-60 kidney transplants annually
We have busy inpatient consultative services, providing inpatient dialysis care with CRRT and intermittent HD in a recently upgraded 6 bed inpatient dialysis unit. Both liver and kidney transplant patients are followed closely by our transplant nephrologists working collaboratively with transplant surgery. Outpatient coverage with be shared equally between both divisions with additional administrative time provided to attend the weekly meeting. Call is 1:9 with opportunities to moonlight over weekends.
Lahey Hospital and Medical Center is a major teaching affiliate of Tufts University Medical School and members of our division are actively involved in resident and medical student teaching, both with student rotations in our division and in the Renal Pathophysiology course at Tufts University School of Medicine.
In March 2019, Lahey Health merged with four local hospital organizations; Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, New England Baptist, Mount Auburn and Ann Jaques Hospitals to form Beth Israel Lahey Health making it the largest employer in the state of Massachusetts and consists of over 200 care locations including 13 hospitals with over 2400 beds and 5 ambulatory surgery centers. Approximately 4300 physicians are associated with BILH including 840 primary care physicians managing 1.3 million patients. We are located just outside of Boston with easy access to excellent school systems and a short drive to the New England states and the cultural opportunities of a world class city.
