Physician: Hospital Medicine. Physician, Hospital Medicine. Must have completed ACGME accredited internal medicine residency program, board certified or board eligible in General Internal Medicine by American Board of Internal Medicine. Must be able to obtain full unrestricted medical license in West Virginia and have or obtain and maintain a full unrestricted DEA license as well.
Physician specializing in hospital medicine will provide acute care to patients in the hospital setting. Physician will manage the entire course of care through the hospital stay, recommending and creating specific treatment plans and coordinating and consulting with specialists as needed.
Responsibilities include admitting patients from the emergency department and for other consulting services and following their care during the hospital stay. Orders studies, tests, and ancillary services and reviews results of such tests. Prescribes pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate. Documents all services in patient medical record. Remains in close contact with patients’ primary care physician and other related providers, updating as needed on status and creating recovery plans for patients upon discharge. Communicating directly with patients to answer questions and address concerns. Effectively communicate with advanced practice providers, nurses and other staff involved with patient care to in order to provide optimum care for patients. Physician will also respond to any emergent codes for patients on hospitalist service. Participates in quality improvement, continuing education, and other patient care programs. Preferred that physician actively participate in community screenings, activities, and functions related to increase awareness, foster education and community outreach.
