ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR

GENERAL SURGEON

The Department of Surgery at the University of Vermont College of Medicine and the University of Vermont Medical Center are seeking a board certified or board eligible minimally invasive general surgeon in the Division of General and Gastrointestinal Surgery. Successful candidates must be eligible for Vermont medical licensure. This position offers a highly competitive income guarantee, incentives, and comprehensive benefits package with academic rank at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in the Clinical Scholar Pathway, commensurate with qualifications and experience. This is a full-time 12-month, salaried, non-tenure track appointment.

Duties will include the clinical care and management of patients of general surgery at the University of Vermont Medical Center and at our community outreach facilities. This individual will focus their practice on hernia repair, complex abdominal wall reconstruction and foregut surgery. This candidate will also bring skills in minimally invasive surgical techniques, teaching principles of management of these patients to medical students and residents; and participating in translational laboratory and clinical research and service.

Located in Burlington, the University of Vermont and the University of Vermont Medical Center serve as Vermont’s only academic medical center. It is the only ACS verified Level 1 trauma center in the state and provides tertiary care to patients from Vermont and Northern NY.
