Seeking Staff Neurologist for Growing Geriatrics Program

The VA Northern California Health Care System is looking for full-time Neurologists to diagnose, treat and manage patients with dementia, amnestic, other cognitive disorders and delirium as well as a variety of general neurologic problems including stroke, Parkinson’s disease, seizures etc. The incumbents will be Neurology’s primary connection to the Geriatrics and Dementia programs and in-patient consultations for our geriatric Veterans. Preference is given to fellowship trained candidates with experience in clinical and investigative aspects of Behavioral Neurology; additionally, a Clinical Fellowship in Dementia and hands-on experience in Geriatrics and Dementia is recommended. Will work closely with four other Neurologists and a Neurology Nurse Practitioner, each with different sub-specialty training and interests. Work life balance is a reality! An academic appointment with UC Davis School of Medicine is a distinct possibility, opportunities for teaching and research abound.  

Facility Location: Sacramento VA Medical Center, Mather, CA and Martinez VA Outpatient Clinic, Martinez, CA

Tour of Duty:  Full-time (40hrs/wk), Monday-Friday, 8am to 4:30pm; rotating on-call coverage via tele-health (not in person) after hours and weekends

Candidate must be: 1) US Citizen, 2) Board Eligible/Certified in Neurology, and 3) Board Eligible/Certified in Behavioral Neurology and 4) Have a full, unrestricted medical license in any state.

Benefits: 26 days paid vacation (1 day accrued each pay period upon employment); 13 days sick leave (1/2 day accrued each pay period upon employment, no cap); 10 paid Federal holidays/Competitive Salary/Malpractice protection with tail coverage covered by the Federal government/Annual Physician Performance Pay (Up to $15,000 possible)/CME- 1 week paid authorized absence to attend and after 1 year of employment $1,000 per year stipend toward CME if BC/No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting

Incentives:  Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) offers up to $200,000 over 5-years, tax-free and/or Recruitment Incentive with minimum 3-year service obligation.
