Physician – Hospice and Palliative Care

Yakima Valley Memorial (YVM) is excited to be recruiting a 1.0FTE Hospice and Palliative Care Physician. Our Hospice and Palliative Care Physician role includes: developing and carrying out patient management plans within the context of the interdisciplinary team, providing effective counseling and education to patients and their families to facilitate patient-focused and value driven healthcare and promoting informed decisions about diagnostic and therapeutic interventions based on patient information and preferences.  This position requires inpatient consultation, hospice admissions, in-home hospice visits, palliative care clinic visits and inpatient hospice center rounding at Cottage in the Meadow, YVM’s hospice facility that provides a home-like environment and a 24-hour nursing staff.  This is a great opportunity to join an organization that’s committed to palliative and end of life care and is a national leader in advanced care planning in end of life.  Our program includes home health assistance, palliative care, in-home and inpatient hospice, chaplain services and bereavement services. YVM offers competitive compensation with comprehensive benefit package including malpractice, CME, Medical/Dental/Vision, LTD, Life/AD&D and more.

Requirements –

  • Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine (MD or DO) required
  • Board Certification (or eligible) in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine, or equivalent experience required. Board Certification (or eligible) in Hospice/Palliative Medicine preferred. Hospice Medical Director Board Certification preferred.
  • Washington State Licensure; DEA registered in WA State
  • American Heart Association BLS or ACLS
  • Valid driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance required
  • Preferred experience: Understanding of hospice philosophy, plans of care and interventions preferred. Experience with intravenous opiates and compassionate withdrawal of medical interventions, such as ventilators, pressure support, pressors, cardiac devices preferred.
