As the only NCI designated cancer center in one of the Nation’s largest metro areas, Mayo Clinic Arizona will provide the successful applicant with many opportunities to contribute to existing efforts, grow new programs, and pursue a personalized career path related to Thoracic Oncology research and treatment.  Mayo Clinic in Arizona serves as the leading referral center for Thoracic Cancers in the Southwest. The Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology at Mayo Clinic Arizona includes over forty physicians and researchers offering highly skilled, state- of-the art care.  MCA is currently undergoing an ambitious expansion plan with over $700 million dollars in construction.  Cancer is designated as a key strategic priority, so we are seeking an ambitious Academic Thoracic Oncologist who wants to be a part of a top ranked and growing faculty.

Our ideal candidate would be an early to mid-career thoracic oncologist with leadership skills and ambition to expand the Thoracic Oncology program here at Mayo Clinic AZ.  The successful candidate will be able to partner with our internationally recognized surgical, pulmonary, and radiation teams in a multidisciplinary clinic; initiate, run and develop clinical trials; recruit future colleagues and drive innovation across the spectrum of care. The applicant will have a primary focus in Lung Cancer, Mesothelioma, and Thymic Cancers, and provide backup services to the Head and Neck cancer practice.  A solid track record in publication and clinical trials design and conduct, is desirable.   The applicant will have the opportunity to teach medical students, residents, and fellows and provide mentorship to more junior faculty. The successful applicant will be able to continue to build their academic practice and reputation nationally and internationally.

Our comprehensive Thoracic Oncology team currently consists of 2 Medical Oncologists, 3 Radiation Oncologists, and 4 Thoracic Surgeons in addition to top ranked teams in Pulmonary Medicine, Radiology, and Pathology.  Our thoracic surgeons perform the highest volume of thoracic robotic and minimally invasive cases in AZ (and the Mayo system) and together we have enjoyed a close working relationship in pioneering patient care and patient clinical trial enrollment.  Our team works with the full spectrum of advanced technologies including Proton Beam Radiation therapy, an on-site cyclotron for synthesis of novel radiopharmaceuticals, and GMP facilities for manufacture of cellular therapies.  Cancer care at Mayo is managed collaboratively across the campuses in Arizona, Florida, and Minnesota, so the applicant will also have access to the combined resources of the entire Mayo Clinic network.  This includes over 200 oncologists and hematologists, CORE research facilities, Pathology, clinical records, and over 2000 faculty involved in cancer care.

Join an organization that provides a rewarding career and promotes excellence in patient-centered care!!  It is an opportune time to join our Division and be a leader in growth and development.  This an exciting time to be in Arizona!!
