Saint Alphonsus Medical Center Baker City and Saint Alphonsus Medical Group have an excellent full time employment opportunity for an experienced Orthopedic Surgeon to provide comprehensive orthopedic services in rural Baker City, Oregon.

The qualified candidate will exude a passion for providing general orthopedics in a rural community and demonstrate evidence of comprehensive assessment skills, expert clinical skills, and problem-solving capabilities.

The schedule for this opportunity is a traditional clinic workweek, Monday through Friday, with a minimum of 34 hours of scheduled patient contact time. This opportunity includes general orthopedic ED call.

This is an exciting opportunity for the right Orthopedic Surgery Physician to be part of the Saint Alphonsus Medical Group and Saint Alphonsus Medical Center Baker City.

ABOUT THE FACILITY

Saint Alphonsus Medical Center Baker City (SAMC Baker City) is a critical access hospital in eastern Oregon with a Level IV Emergency Department (roughly 7,500 visits per year). The hospital has two monitored critical care beds and 19 beds in a medical-surgical inpatient nursing unit; inpatient services also include a step-down unit. The hospital also has two spacious ORs with 24-7 CRNA coverage. On-site ancillary services include: lab, radiology (80 slice CT), ultrasound, respiratory therapy, IV infusion including chemotherapy. Mobile MRI services are also available on a weekly basis.

The hospital s active medical staff includes but is not limited to the following: an Orthopedic Surgeon, a General Surgeon, an Ophthalmologist, four Family Practitioners, a Family Medicine/Sports Medicine physician, an Internist, a Rheumatologist, etc. Visiting specialists provide on-site clinic services on the hospital campus at least monthly and include the following specialties: ENT, Pulmonary Diseases and Sleep Medicine, Gynecologic Oncology, General Cardiology and Electrophysiology, Medical Oncology, Dermatology, and a Foot and Ankle Orthopedic clinic. Moreover, the Saint Alphonsus Medical Group has an extensive array of subspecialties available on a consultative and referral basis and the System s tertiary care regional medical center, Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center, is an ACoS certified Level II Trauma Center in Boise, Idaho. SAMC Baker City also is part of the Saint Alphonsus telemedicine clinical network, integrating telemedicine into the patient care experience with its remote presence robots in order to provide healing and hope close to home.

COMMUNITY DESCRIPTION

Baker City, Oregon is situated in the valley between the rugged Elkhorn Mountains and the jagged, snowy Wallowa Mountains. Interstate 84 easily connects Baker City to several major metropolitan areas, including Boise (125 miles east), Portland and Seattle. Baker City s population has remained very stable over time at approximately 10,000. The population of Baker County is about 18,000.
