ROLE of the POSITION
The Department of Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Critical Care Division, is seeking a dynamic Assistant/Associate professor to join our team to provide excellent patient care and participate in our important mission of teaching medical students, residents and fellows. This is a non-tenure track position.
The ideal candidate will:
- Care for patients in the ICU and be expected to supervise a full range of ICU procedures including central line placement, arterial line placement, intubation, tube thoracotomy, and ventilator management.
- Supervise a separate pulmonary consultation service performing inpatient consultations and bronchoscopies.
- Have an integral role in our fellowship program. Our Pulmonary and Critical Care fellowship program recruits 3 fellows a year to our accredited ACGME fellowship.
- Supervise and teach of fellows, residents and medical students during procedures, rounds, and through didactic lectures are expected as part of the academic mission of the division.
- The candidate will also be expected to develop a scholarly activity program. This will include clinical scholarship and mentoring residents in the research projects.
- Qualified candidates who have interest in research will have the opportunity to collaborate in clinical research projects.
- Teaching and computer literacy skills are essential.
The successful candidate must have an M.D. or D.O. degree or equivalent and successful completion of an ACGME accredited residency program and be board certified or board eligible in Pulmonary Disease and/or Critical Care Medicine, prior to start date. If board eligible, certification must be completed within the first two years of employment.
Candidates must be able to possess and maintain a Nevada State Board of Pharmacy license and DEA license. Nevada medical license must be obtained prior to start data, malpractice coverage meet credentialing requirements and must be able to obtain privileges at University Medical Center (UMC) and other site locations as needed. Finalist may be subject to a background check.
Must be able to read, write and communicate fluently in English.
Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions. Position is contingent upon funding.
Pursuant to Assembly Bill (AB) 3 passed by the Nevada State Legislature during the 31st Special Legislative Session, employees are required to take furlough at a 4.6 percent monthly reduction in compensation from January 1, 2021 through June 30, 2021.
