Body Imaging Radiologist
Denver Health, the premier Level I trauma center for the city of Denver and the entire Rocky Mountain region, in collaboration with the University of Colorado, is seeking a staff Body Radiologist. Denver Health aims for a world-class body imaging division focused on delivering efficient, productive, and cutting-edge clinical care; a robust and growing educational program for students, residents, and fellows; and a research portfolio focused on collaboration with others inside and outside the Department.

Denver Health’s Emergency Medicine program is nationally renowned, with over 120,000 patient visits per year, and with a nationally recognized stand-alone emergency medicine residency. Denver Health’s Level 1 Trauma Center is one of the world’s leading trauma centers and has amongst the highest survival rates in the country. The trauma center sees 18,000 patients annually, 2700 of whom are admitted, and many of whom arrive as transfers from any one of 60 regional hospitals. The trauma service is extraordinarily academically productive with millions in grants from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and United States Department of Defense (DoD). The seminal text “Trauma” was authored by Denver Health faculty.
Denver Health is affiliated with the University of Colorado School of Medicine. All faculty at Denver Health have University appointments and are valued participants in University and Department of Radiology functions. Faculty have access to the academic and cultural resources of Denver Health, the University, and other affiliate institutions.
Denver Health, in collaboration with the University of Colorado, is seeing a fellowship-trained, Body Imager (Fellowship training abdominal imaging with body MRI experience prefered) to join the body imaging division at the level of an Assistant, Associate, or full-Professor, depending on the level of experience. The ideal candidate will have a record of clinical excellence, strong teaching abilities, and scholarly interests.
The candidate being sought will participate in the delivery of outpatient and inpatient body imaging services, including CT, MR, PET/CT, Radiography, US, and limited fluoroscopy studies. Given the volume and strength of the ED and trauma service at Denver Health, there is an emphasis on providing advanced, cutting edge, and highly collaborative acute care and care of trauma victims. The majority of the body imaging work, however, is outpatient with Denver Health providing the full gamut of body imaging services. In addition to the body imaging services currently offered, Denver Health seeks to continuously improve and innovate, including expanding and advancing our body MR service line.
Denver Health body imagers participate in the education of University of Colorado medical students, radiology and IR/DR residents, and fellows. There is a strong desire to continue to expand our educational offerings.
The Department values patient-centered care and a highly collaborative work environment. There is a strong working relationship with medicine, surgery, surgical subfields, OBGYN, and emergency medicine.
- M.D., D.O. or foreign equivalent medical degree; board certification in Radiology; fellowship training and extensive experience in body imaging preferred, including body MRI; eligibility for licensure in Colorado
- The ability to be appointed at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank, depending on experience. Experience/aspirations toward having a local and/or national reputation of clinical excellence, teaching, and scholarly excellence is preferred.
- Participation in national societies and organizations is preferred. The Department and institution will support participation with societies, particularly when focused on faculty development and providing service.

Interviews will proceed over the winter of 2020/2021 with an intended start at the candidate’s convenience, though ideally in late spring or early summer of 2021. Interviews will be conducted remotely, with no required travel, though an optional in-person visit may be considered depending on the candidate’s interest, local laws and regulations, institutional policies, the status of new Covid-19 infections, and other factors.

Education: Graduation from an accredited medical school and completed accredited residency programs and fellowships for specialist, or equivalent. Certificate/License/Registration: Medical license to practice in State of Colorado. All physicians must be board-certified within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the Office of Medical Administration. BLS/CPR. ACLS, PALS, or NRP as outlined in HR Principles and Practices #2-110 Appendix, maintaining licensures, certifications, and registrations. All certifications and licenses required for this job must be kept current as a condition of continued employment.
