Hand Surgery opportunity

Prima CARE, a 160-provider multispecialty group in southeast Massachusetts, is recruiting a Fellowship-trained hand surgeon to join its established Orthopedic Surgery Division.  This busy practice has a referral base of 40 primary care physicians within our own group and attracts referrals from the community.

The surgeon will see new and established office patients and will have rounding and surgical privileges at Saint Anne’s Hospital, a Steward Health Care facility.  Completion of orthopedic residency is required and fellowship training in hand surgery is desirable.  The position is open to candidates finishing their training or those with experience.  Subspecialty certification in Surgery of the Hand (or eligibility) and licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts are required.

Prima CARE is physician-owned and managed, and is an affiliate of the Steward Health Care Network.  Prima CARE has on-site Physical Therapy, Lab, CT, and MRI.  Neurologists, vascular surgeons, and EMG/NCS are readily available.  Practice logistics, including billing, collections, and insurance company contracting are centralized within Prima CARE and other supporting services are provided.  Prima CARE offers a 401k retirement plan, health insurance, moving expenses, and malpractice insurance, and shareholder status (partnership) in Prima CARE is an expectation within 3 years.  Patient coverage is shared with the other orthopedic surgeons, including a shoulder specialist, and Emergency Room call is in a non-trauma center hospital.

Saint Anne’s Hospital, our local in-network facility, is 5 minutes from the office and offers inpatient and outpatient surgery, an inpatient unit dedicated to orthopedics and inpatient rehabilitation services with OT and PT.   Saint Anne’s is equipped with microsurgical equipment.   Saint Anne’s Center for Orthopedic Excellence has earned advanced certification for hip and knee replacement by the JCAHO and is a Blue Distinction Center for BCBS.

Salary is competitive and will be commensurate with training and experience.

The Fall River area is lovely with various living environments and excellent schools nearby.  Providence is only 20 minutes, Boston only 1 hour, and Cape Cod less than an hour away.
