Physician (Hospitalist - Nocturnist)
The incumbent will serve as a Hospitalist and will be responsible for providing medical services to inpatients of the Medical Center in the area(s) assigned to him or her. Direct patient care is the primary responsibility of the Hospitalist. As inpatient care provider, he/she will serve as the "attending physician". The physician-hospitalist is an independent care provider who is highly skilled in the management of patient's acute care needs and coordinates subspecialty evaluation and treatment. The provider has responsibilities for the evaluation, care, and disposition of patients, ordering appropriate diagnostic tests, determining need for hospitalization or transferring the patient to another facility.
Work Schedule:May be full time or part time. Rotational, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays coverage is expected. Subject to change based on agency needs.

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan reimbursement program within VHA. - Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
- Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
- Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Physical Requirements:Moderate lifting, 15-44 pounds; straight pulling (4 hours); pushing (4 hours); reaching above shoulder; use of fingers; both hands required; walking (2 hours);standing (7 hours); kneeling (1 hour); repeated bending (4 hours); both legs required; near vision correctable at 13" to 16" to Jaeger 1 to 4; far-vision correctable in one eye to 20/50 and to 20/100 in the other; ability to distinguish basic colors; hearing (aid permitted); mental and emotional stability required.
