Toronto Western Hospital (TWH) at University Health Network (UHN) is seeking to hire two to three new neurosurgeons. Division of Neurosurgery invites applications for academic neurosurgeons with an appointment at the Department of Surgery at University of Toronto in the following three subspecialty areas: neurovascular surgery, hybrid endovascular surgery, skull base and neuro-oncology. The individual we seek will hold advanced training and skills in these areas through formal fellowship training. The successful candidates must hold certification in Neurosurgery from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or recognized equivalent certifying body. The individual must be eligible for licensure by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. A secondary graduate degree is required at the level of a masters or PhD from a graduate school. Applicants should demonstrate a track-record of commitment to excellence in neurosurgery training, clinical service and scholarship, with a minimum of 50% focus on academic activities.
The position(s) are for a Junior Faculty position with a University rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor at the Department of Surgery at University of Toronto with a fixed-term position of 1-2 years.
Remuneration and rank as a member of the Clinical Faculty are commensurate with qualifications and experience. Research start-up funds will be provided in alignment with the credentials and experience of the applicant.
The Division of Neurosurgery at TWH offers an excellent opportunity with an internationally recognized tradition of academic neurosurgery situated in a rich hospital and University environment. The Division has a well-established subspecialty practice in vascular, oncology, skull base, spine, functional neurosurgery and epilepsy, with each having a long-standing history of multidisciplinary care in the neurosciences program at the Krembil Brain Institute. There are multidisciplinary teams to support the Gamma Knife, Laser Interstitial Thermal Therapy (LITT) and High-Frequency Focused Ultrasound programs. The Division of Neurosurgery is part of the prestigious Sprott Surgical Program and the Krembil Brain Institute for the Neurosciences.
