The Department of Medicine of McGill University, Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism, invites applications for a full-time clinician-scientist as a member of the Contract Academic Staff at the rank of Assistant Professor. The candidate will have the expertise and experience in endocrinology/metabolism research to establish or continue an internationally recognized independent research program. While all areas of Endocrinology research are eligible, preference will be given to research in the areas of diabetes/metabolism and neuroendocrinology. Either basic or translational/epidemiology research is eligible.

As a Clinician-Scientist, it is expected that the successful candidate will apply for external support from the appropriate funding agencies (i.e. CIHR, FRQ-S). Should the candidate be successful securing additional sources of funding, they will be expected to devote a minimum of 50% time to research. Startup funding including a research stipend may be available to a suitable candidate allowing for protected research time through a separate competitive process.

Job Duties
• The successful candidate will be expected to establish an independent research program that will be nationally and internationally recognized. Collaboration with investigators in the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC), in particular the MeDiC (Metabolic Disorders and Complications) Program, is encouraged.
• The candidate is expected to contribute to the clinical activities of the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism which includes ambulatory clinics, Endocrinology Consult Service, teaching of medical trainees, medical students, postgraduate medical residents and endocrine residents, in both formal classroom and clinical settings.
• The candidate is expected to contribute to and participate in committees and administrative activities of the Division of Endocrinology and of the relevant Research Institute Program of the appointment.
• The candidate is expected to be involved in all aspects of McGill’s academic mission (research, teaching, supervision of graduate students and involvement in academic and administrative committees) and will be expected to demonstrate a commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion in these activities.

Qualifications and Education requirements
• Candidates must hold an MD degree and must have completed subspecialty training in Endocrinology and Metabolism and certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (or equivalent), as well as be eligible for licensure in Quebec and certified by the Collège des Médecins du Québec.
• Research training must be documented by a graduate-degree, MSc and/or PhD and postdoctoral research experience.
• A track record of publications.
• Candidates must be fluent in English with a working knowledge of French.
