Overview
Works under the administrative supervision of Chief, Obstetrics/Gynecology Service. The primary purpose is to provide a Medical Officer who is an expert practitioner in the OB/GYN specialty, board certified, or board eligible in OB/GYN to carry a full range of cases and provide consultative services on difficult OB/GYN cases. Complicated requiring treatment or services for which existing hospital facilities are not adequate are referred to other civilian or military medical facilities. Examines, diagnoses, prescribes course of treatment, administers and prescribes medicine for OB/GYN patients including those of an unusually complex and difficult nature. Ascertains immediate needs as deemed necessary. Performs surgical procedures & assists in Operating Room (OR), Obstetrics/Gynecology Service, guiding and directing the assisting medical officer, nurse anesthetist, nurses, and other ancillary personnel. Performs basic colposcopy and treatment of dysplaisa on OB/GYN patients.
Responsibilities
Must maintain a current unrestricted license to practice medicine. Obtains continuing medical education (CME) on a regular basis and keeps abreast of current literature.
Qualifications
US Citizenship Required
To qualify, applicants must possess 1 year of appropriate experience in maternal and child health programs.
Board Certified Required
