Vice-Chair of Peri-Operative Medicine in the Department of Anesthesia, Critical Care & Pain Medicine
The Department of Anesthesia, Critical Care and Pain Medicine seeks applicants for the position of Vice-Chair of Peri-Operative Medicine. The ideal candidate is a nationally respected clinician and researcher, who will help lead the Department to further success. The ideal candidate will have a commitment to the perioperative surgical home model with an understanding of academic and community medicine integration. The Vice- Chair will be responsible for integration of surgical care from booking to discharge. We have been a leader in the use of data to improve patient care and expect the new Vice- Chair to take an important leadership role in further developing this capability. Our Department continues to grow and now encompasses 8 hospitals delivering approximately 130,000 anesthetics per year as well as playing leading roles in critical care and pain medicine. Clinical time may be divided between the Preoperative Assessment Clinic, the operating rooms and other anesthetizing locations within the hospitals.
The position is based at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, a world-class teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School, located in the heart of Boston. We have 673 licensed beds, including 77 critical care beds. BIDMC cares for more than 5000 births a year and provides a full range of emergency services, including a Level 1 Trauma Center.
Appointment as an Assistant or Associate Professor at the Harvard Medical School will be commensurate with experience, training and achievements in addition to teaching activities.
