Bayhealth Medical Center, based in Dover DE, is seeking a dynamic leader in the field of Emergency Medicine to join us in our efforts to develop a top-ranked Emergency Medicine Residency program. Our plans call for the first Residents to be on site in July 2023. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated leader to have input and make an impact building a program from the ground up. The program is scheduled to support 6 Emergency Medicine residents per year.
Bayhealth has made a serious institutional commitment to GME. July 2021 will see the first Family and Internal Medicine residents on campus (8 and 13 respectively.) We have an application pending for a General Surgery Residency Program starting in July of 2022. The plan is to add EM in 2023 and a Transitional Year program in 2024 to fill the 108 positions approved by ACGME.
Candidates must be BC in Emergency Medicine and have at least three years’ experience as a clinical administrator and educator in Emergency Medicine as well demonstrate involvement in presentations and other scholarly activities.
Delaware is one of the fastest growing states in the US and Bayhealth is looking to grow to serve the future healthcare needs of our communities. February 2109 saw the opening of the new Sussex Campus; this 138 bed hospital replaced the existing Milford Memorial Hospital.
Bayhealth Medical Center is central and southern Delaware's largest healthcare system with two hospitals, one free-standing ED and a medical staff of nearly 500 physicians.
Bayhealth Medical Center is a fully integrated health care system consisting of two hospitals (Kent Campus and Sussex Campus), a free-standing ED in Smyrna and numerous ambulatory and outpatient offices. Both hospitals are certified Primary Stroke Centers. There is 24/7 Hospitalist coverage at both hospitals, as well as Intensivists in the ICU’s. Service are available in most specialties including Neurosurgery, Cardiac surgery, Interventional and Structural Cardiology. Kent has a Cardiac ICU, a Neuro ICU and a Medical ICU; Sussex has a Medical ICU.

Located less than two hours from Washington DC, Baltimore and Philadelphia the central/southern Delaware area offers affordable living, history and charm. Easy access to both the Delaware and Chesapeake Bays provides limitless recreational opportunities and the Atlantic Ocean is less than a forty-five minute drive from Dover.
