Hospitalist - Nocturnist - Physician

The chosen candidate will serve as a hospitalist providing nighttime coverage responsible for the care of patients admitted through the emergency department. In addition to providing direct patient care, the responsibilities will also include oversight/direct supervision of medical housestaff as well as allied health personnel (Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, etc.) and timely completion of medical record responsibilities, as specified within the Rules and Regulations of the Mount Sinai Health System Medical Staff. The physician will work a 7-on/7-off schedule. Shifts begin at 7pm and end after morning signout at roughly 7:30am. The physician will have an additional 16 days of vacation on top of the aforementioned weeks off.

- Board Eligible or Board Certified in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine

Mount Sinai South Nassau also operates Long Island s only free-standing, 9-1-1 receiving Emergency Department, located in Long Beach. In addition to its extensive outpatient specialty centers, Mount Sinai South Nassau provides emergency and elective angioplasty, as well as being a designated Stroke Center by the New York State Department of Health and Comprehensive Community Cancer Center by the American College of Surgeons and an accredited center of the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Association and Quality Improvement Program. The hospital has been awarded the Joint Commission s gold seal of approval for disease-specific care for heart failure, primary stroke, hip replacement, knee replacement, wound care, bariatric surgery, and end-stage renal disease, and recently was re-accredited as one of first programs in the US by the Infectious Diseases Society of America as a Center of Excellence for Antimicrobial Stewardship.
Designated a Magnet hospital by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) for outstanding nursing care, South Nassau also offers Novalis Tx and Gamma Knife radiosurgery technologies, and operates the only Trauma Center on the South Shore of Nassau County verified by the American College of Surgeons. MSSN has a large critical care and elderly patient population and a very busy hematology / oncology service as part of our renowned Feil Cancer Center which works closely with the NCI Cancer Program at Mount Sinai.
