The Center for Devices and Radiological Health's DHT3A: Division of Renal, Gastrointestinal, Obesity, and Transplant Devices is seeking a gastroenterologist interested in participating in the review of medical devices to determine their safety and effectiveness prior to and after their introduction to the marketplace. As members of a multidisciplinary team of scientists and clinicians, the incumbent will be involved in the review of pre-clinical and clinical trials and the analysis of scientific and clinical data for determining the safety and effectiveness of medical devices as described in applications submitted by device manufacturers for FDA approval.
QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must have completed all requirements for a medical degree from an accredited institution. Physicians should be board eligible or certified in gastroenterology or have completed a minimum of three years of fellowship training in gastroenterology or possess equivalent experience. Must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. Experience in the research or review of medical devices is desirable but not required. Candidates should have highly developed analytical, written, and oral skills, as well as the ability to research problems and issues and to use scientific judgment in problem solving.
LOCATION: Offices are in Silver Spring, Maryland at the White Oak Campus.
SALARY: The federal General Schedule (GS) grade levels at which Physician positions are most commonly filled are GS-14 and 15. Non-supervisory positions will be subject to peer review of individual accomplishments.
