The Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) position is an outstanding full-time opportunity for a licensed physician with a not-for-profit health system near Charlotte, NC. This health system serves as the dominant provider of inpatient and outpatient services in an expanding service area which includes a 6 counties that span between North Carlonia and South Carolina and the Northern and employs nearly 3,900 healthcare professionals with a medical staff membership of 450+.
This position supports the Vice President, Chief Information Officer through the effective uses of biomedical data, information, and knowledge or scientific inquiry, problem solving and decision-making. The CMIO serves as a leadership partner for integration of information technology into clinical practice and research, to promote the highest possible quality, safety and evidence-based patient care. This physician leader will have responsibility for physician engagement, adoption, standardization and optimization of clinical systems and clinical informatics. This role will be largely dedicated to CMIO duties; however, medical practice is expected and negotiable.
Requirements: MD/DO with Board Certified in specialty. Advanced Degree in Informatics, Health Care Administration, MBA or a related field is preferred. Board Certification in Clinical Informatics is desired but optional. Three-five years previous CMIO or similar experience in a multi-hospital delivery system with a broad spectrum of employed specialty physician groups and ancillary services. Significant experience with the implementation and operation of Epic is required.
