Family Medicine or Internal Medicine - ALS Medical Director Opportunity
St. Peter's Health Partners has an excellent part time employment opportunity for a Board Certified Family Medicine and/or Internal Medicine trained physician with expertise or special interest in ALS to join the St. Peter's Regional ALS Center located in Albany, New York.
The St. Peters Regional ALS Center was established in 1988 to provide people with ALS and their families with a comprehensive and specialized blend of services and resources. The center provides both a medical and an emotional system of support to help maintain quality of life throughout the course of the disease.
The Medical Director will provide part time services in an outpatient clinic setting. The selected candidate will work closely with an interdisciplinary team including ALS Nursing Case Managers, Therapists, Social Worker and support staff to provide comprehensive care to patients with ALS and support to their families. The Physician will work with consultants and staff, to manage and address goals of care and treatment plans, as well as provide guidance and education to patients and families.
The work schedule is one full day a week in the ALS outpatient center seeing ALS clinic patients as part of the 43 hours per month. Other work within these hours includes follow up orders, referrals, troubleshooting patient issues with ALS Nurse Case Managers, communicating with other clinical providers and community health care professionals and some on call telephone coverage. This position may include on occasion, home visits to patients who are progressed in their disease and unable to attend the Center.
Applicants should have the following requirements: NYS licensure, DEA certification and Board Certification in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine. Fellowship training or work experience in Palliative Care, Hospice, Neurology or Physiatry would be a plus.
