University of Florida obstetrician/gynecologists at UF G2G offer a full range of obstetrics and gynecology services. Inpatient obstetric and gynecologic care is performed at Orange Park Medical Center.  It does not qualify as an underserved area or patient population.  Faculty assigned to UF G2G participate in the earned productivity-based variable compensation plan.

Major responsibilities include patient care and (currently 1:4) call coverage.  Teaching responsibilities with UF include an annual lecture for the OB/GYN residency core competency curriculum as well as teaching surgeon roles for cases staffed by residents and occasional opportunities for attending coverage at the UF Jax Main Campus.  There may be opportunities for research if desired.  The UF G2G office has four physicians and this position will replace a current physician relocating to her home state.  The practice has approximately equal volume of obstetrics and gynecology and averages approximately 550 deliveries/year.  OPMC has 9 Labor and Delivery rooms, a level 2 NICU (petitioning for transition to level 3), 24 hour in-house anesthesia, and a Da Vinci robot.  It is a level 2 Trauma Center and has several residency programs (not OB/GYN).

This position offers the unique blend of the enjoyment of direct patient care in what feels very similar to a private practice model with some of the perks and securities that come with being a part of the University.  There is a competitive benefits package including excellent health insurance, paid leave, retirement savings, the support of a robust self-insurance program, and a continuing medical education program that recruits national and international speakers well-known in their fields.  The office HR and IT requirements are managed by the University of Florida allowing physicians to focus on quality patient care.  Many of the patients have been with the practice for many years and there is the familiarity of working in a community hospital while always having the breadth and depth of resources available with UF as a safety net.

The UF OB/GYN department hosts an ACGME-accredited obstetrics and gynecology residency program, as well as programs in medical student education and continuing medical education.  A robust research division provides strong supervision over and assistance with departmental research.  With experts in every area of women’s health, the latest technology and a large complement of faculty and residents, the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology can provide any services that UF G2G patients are unable to access at OPMC.  On a larger scale, UF Health Jacksonville has 16 clinical science departments with more than 440 faculty members, 1560 staff and 384 residents as fellows filling positions in 38 accredited graduate medical education programs and 14 non-standard programs which creates an easily accessible infrastructure for any consultations or referrals to other specialties that patients at UF G2G might need.

Orange Park is a suburb of the Jacksonville metropolitan area, and both offer low cost of living with easy beach access.   Located in the Northeastern part of the state on the Atlantic Ocean, Jacksonville’s weather is sunny and pleasant.  We enjoy an average of 320 days of sunshine each year, yet have the coolest summers in the state.  Known as the River City, Jacksonville is a major port city with numerous waterways, two Naval bases, several nature preserves, marshes, lakes, wetlands and miles of beaches.  Flowing through Jacksonville is the 310 mile St Johns River which plays a major role in our work and play.
