This person would direct the clinical services at the primary teaching hospital (Tisch Hospital) and co-ordinate clinical and teaching activities with the Manhattan VA and Bellevue Hospital as well as NYULH-Brooklyn and NYULH-Long Island (formerly Winthrop Hospital). All sites have active clinical services that serve as a source of subjects for clinical trials and translational investigation. In addition, the Grossman Pediatric Diabetes Center is an active collaborator in developing programs. A primary role of the associate director is to advance clinical research programs in diabetes throughout NYULH.
The Division has internationally known programs in diabetes cardiovascular complications, lipid metabolism, and the RAGE pathway of inflammation. It is the home to two American Heart Association Strategically Focused Research Networks (obesity and cardiometabolic disease), a Program Project Grant in RAGE biology, and numbers of other NIH funded research projects.
