The University of Chicago's Department of Anesthesia and Critical Care is searching for a full-time faculty member at any rank. The appointee will be a physician-leader in a multispecialty integrated system. Working with other leaders of the department and Comer Children's Hospital, their role will be to ensure outstanding medical care continues to be provided to our patients and to serve as a resource for delivery of excellent healthcare to the wider community. We welcome applicants with clinical leadership experience, post-fellowship experience in pediatric anesthesia, and faculty mentorship. Other duties will include teaching and supervision of trainees and students, and scholarly activity. Academic rank and compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) are dependent upon qualifications.

The Department of Anesthesia & Critical Care (DACC) is a world class clinical, research, and educational department at the University of Chicago. Comer Children's Hospital, located on the University of Chicago medical campus, is a free-standing, 172-bed acute-care facility providing family-centered, comprehensive, state-of-the-art care since 2005. As a major tertiary academic referral center, with a 47 bed Level III NICU, a 30 bed PICU, and as a pediatric Level I trauma center and ECMO center, Comer provides primary and specialty care for children of all ages, from premature neonates to older adolescents, with all types of medical problems, ranging from the common to the rare and complex. Comer Children's Hospital is also committed to serving the local community and provides care to many Medicaid patients and to those without insurance. Approximately 3,000 surgical cases are conducted annually in five operating rooms. Anesthetic care also occurs outside the operating room for diagnostic and therapeutic medical procedures as well as in the state of the art cardiac catheterization lab, interventional radiology, and imaging suites.

Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have a medical doctorate or equivalent, 2) hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois, and 3) be Board certified in Anesthesiology and Subspecialty Certification in Pediatric Anesthesiology.
