The Central Alabama Veterans Healthcare System (CAVHCS) located in Montgomery, AL is searching for a BE/BC Family Medicine, Internal Medicine or Emergency Medicine Physician to join their dynamic healthcare team.
Duties include, but not limited to:
- Patient assessment and treatment/management of urgent/emergent conditions, acute conditions, exacerbation of chronic conditions
- Vesting of new veterans, admission and/or transfer of urgent/emergent veterans
- Providing medical clearance for veterans requiring admission to inpatient Mental Health
- Providing care to CAVHCS staff who becomes ill or injured while on duty in the absence of the Occupational Health Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner.
Board certified or board eligible in Family, Internal or Emergency Medicine required. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required.
Salary Range: $275,000 - $325,000 per year
Work Hours: 10 to 12 hour shifts including WHEN hours. Flexibility is a must!
Applicant selected for this position may be eligible to apply for an award under the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP). Participation is based on funds availability.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- Citizenship: Citizen of the United States. (Noncitizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens).
b. Education: Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Approved schools are:
c. Licensure and Registration: Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
d. Physical Standards: A pre-placement physical examination shall be completed prior to appointment to determine the physical and mental fitness for candidates for appointment in VA.
e. English Language Proficiency: Physicians, including residents, appointed to direct patient-care positions must be proficient in spoken and written English as required.
