Chair, Department of Surgery
Rutgers New Jersey Medical School invites applications for the position of the Benjamin F. Rush, Jr., MD Endowed Chair of Surgery. We are seeking an individual with strong leadership qualities and a record of accomplishment as a clinician and researcher to lead a department with a faculty possessing broad expertise in both clinical and basic sciences. The Department has become a highly recognized clinical and academic enterprise. The faculty perform 5000 procedures per year, and the Department maintains fully accredited residency training programs in General Surgery, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and Urology, as well as fellowship training programs in Global Surgery, Vascular Surgery, and Trauma Surgical Critical Care.
With 32 full-time and 5 part-time faculty, current divisions in the Department include Cardiothoracic Surgery, Clinical Research, General Surgery, Surgical Oncology, Liver Transplant & Hepatobiliary Surgery, Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, Urology, Trauma/Surgical Critical Care, and Vascular Surgery.
The successful candidate should be a leader in the field of Surgery with a national and international reputation. Candidates must also have clinical and translational science expertise along with the ability to integrate both into a cohesive department excelling in research, education, and clinical services.
