The Position
The Department of Nutrition Science in the College of Health and Human Sciences (HHS) seeks applicants for a tenured faculty position to direct the Purdue Clinical Research Center (CRC) for the Indiana Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (CTSI; www.purdue.edu/hhs/nutr/crc). The CRC base is in Purdue’s 7,000ft 2 Nutrition Clinical Research facility (www.purdue.edu/hhs/nutr/crc/facilities) and coordinates with CTSI resources at the Indiana University School of Medicine. Summer salary is available to support the CRC director.

In addition to directing the CRC, the successful candidate will bring and sustain an independent externally funded research program. The individual is also expected to participate in teaching and outreach activities consistent with the appointment and candidate’s area of expertise. A human/clinical research focus in an area related to our departmental signature areas of Metabolism and Obesity; Minerals, Vitamin D, and Bone Health; Food, Ingestive Behavior, and Population Nutrition; or Carcinogenesis and Cancer Prevention, supporting HHS’ strategic research themes (purdue.edu/hhs/strategic-plan/themes.php), is preferred. Many opportunities exist to collaborate with researchers in these areas as well as other areas in HHS units and campus-wide emphasis areas (e.g., obesity, gerontology, child/adolescent development, disease prevention, imaging, biomedical engineering).


The Department of Nutrition Science
The overall mission of the Department of Nutrition Science (www.purdue.edu/hhs/nutr) is to conduct the highest caliber nutrition science research, to educate students in a diverse and inclusive environment, and to promote health through engagement with the public. The department is committed to providing exceptional undergraduate and graduate education and currently has approximately 250 undergraduate students in multiple majors and 45 graduate students. The Department’s Didactic and Coordinated Programs in Nutrition and Dietetics are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND).
 

Requirements

All applicants must hold a PhD in Nutrition Science or a closely related field, or a clinical doctorate such as MD, DNP, PharmD, etc... Postdoctoral research experience, a strong publication record, and demonstrated ability to obtain external research funding is required.
